About The Tightrope Walkers
The Tightrope Walkers is a novel by David Almond, translated into Persian by Shahla Entezarian.
Set in the working-class shipbuilding communities of 1960s Tyneside, the story follows Dominic Hall as he is pulled between his family’s hard-edged world, his imaginative friendship with Holly Stroud and the dangerous influence of Vincent McAlinden. Dominic’s gift for drawing and writing gives him a way to understand himself and picture another future.
With lyrical storytelling, the novel examines the difficult passage from childhood into adulthood: loyalty and independence, violence and creation, and the effort required to balance the forces that pull a young person in different directions. The title becomes an image of that precarious balance.
