رمان اصلاح دینی آخناتون، کشمکش آیین آتون با کاهنان آمون، جنگ، جاهطلبی، عشق و محدودیت دانش را از نگاه راویای سالخورده و سرخورده بررسی میکند. میکا والتاری (Mika Waltari) اثر را با الهام از منابع تاریخی و «داستان سینوهه» مصر باستان نوشت، اما شخصیتها و رخدادهای آن آمیزهای از تاریخ و تخیلاند. عنوان اصلی فنلاندی Sinuhe egyptiläinen است و کتاب نخستینبار در ۱۹۴۵ منتشر شد.

About Sinuhe the Egyptian
Sinuhe the Egyptian by Mika Waltari follows an Egyptian physician from childhood to exile in the fourteenth century BCE, during the reign of Akhenaten. Found in a basket on the Nile and adopted by Senmut and Kipa, Sinuhe studies medicine, enters the royal court and travels through Babylon, Mitanni, Crete and the Hittite world, encountering the politics, religions and medical knowledge of the ancient Near East.
The novel examines Akhenaten’s religious reform, the conflict between Aten and the priesthood of Amun, war, ambition, love and the limits of knowledge through an ageing, disillusioned narrator. Mika Waltari drew on historical research and the ancient Egyptian “Story of Sinuhe”, while freely combining history with invention. The Finnish original, Sinuhe egyptiläinen, was first published in 1945.
This two-volume set presents Zabihollah Mansouri’s famous adapted Persian rendering. It has been enormously influential among Persian readers, but its expansive method should not be mistaken for a literal translation from Finnish. Published by Zarrin, the hardback set contains 989 pages and carries ISBN-10 9644071743 (ISBN-13 9789644071744).
