سارتر با توضیحهایی که احساس را صرفاً واکنش بدنی، آشفتگی درونی یا مجموعهای از دادههای روانشناختی میدانند فاصله میگیرد. در رویکرد پدیدارشناختی او، احساس شکلی معنادار و جهتمند از آگاهی است: وقتی راه عمل عادی بسته میشود، انسان با ترس، خشم، اندوه یا شادی شیوه پدیدارشدن جهان را برای خود دگرگون میکند.

About Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions
Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions translates Jean-Paul Sartre’s Esquisse d’une théorie des émotions, first published in 1939 and conceived as part of a larger, unfinished study of the psyche. This Persian edition is translated by Sina Royaee.
Sartre rejects accounts that treat emotion only as a bodily reaction, an inner disturbance or a collection of psychological facts. In his phenomenological approach, emotion is a meaningful and intentional mode of consciousness: when ordinary practical action is blocked, fear, anger, sorrow or joy changes how the world appears to the person experiencing it.
Sartre calls this transformation “magical”—not because it is merely an illusion, but because it alters our relationship to a situation without practically changing the situation itself. The book is short but conceptually dense, linking Husserlian phenomenology and Heidegger’s thought to Sartre’s later existentialism.
