«طوطی» رمانی از زکریا هاشمی (Zakaria Hashemi) است که نخستین بار در ۱۳۴۸ توسط نشر روزن منتشر شد. داستان، هاشم و بهروز را دنبال میکند؛ دو جوان سرگشته که رفتوآمدشان به محله شهر نو تهران آنها را با طوطی، زنی یهودی و گرفتار در حاشیه جامعه، روبهرو میکند.
هاشمی با زبانی بیپرده و واقعگرایانه، زندگی آدمهایی را نشان میدهد که معمولاً از روایت رسمی شهر حذف میشوند. فقر، تنفروشی، خشونت، اعتیاد، رفاقت و رؤیای گریز در بستر تهران پیش از انقلاب کنار هم قرار میگیرند، اما شخصیتها به تیپهای ساده تقلیل پیدا نمیکنند؛ کشمکش میان همدلی، میل، ترس و درماندگی، نیروی اصلی روایت است.
هاشمی در سال ۱۳۵۷ فیلمی بر پایه همین رمان ساخت و خود نیز در آن بازی کرد؛ فیلم اجازه اکران عمومی نگرفت. این پیوند میان ادبیات و سینما، جایگاه رمان را در ثبت چهرهای کمتر دیدهشده از تهران برجستهتر میکند. چاپ نخست کتاب ۴۰۵ صفحه داشت؛ نسخه عرضهشده با نام نشر روزن و جلد شومیز ثبت شده است.

About Touti
Touti is a novel by Zakaria Hashemi, first published by Rowzan in 1969. It follows Hashem and Behrooz, two drifting young men whose visits to Tehran’s Shahr-e No district bring them into contact with Touti, a Jewish woman living and working at the city’s social margins.
Hashemi uses direct, social-realist prose to portray people usually excluded from official accounts of the city. Poverty, sex work, violence, addiction, friendship and the hope of escape intersect in pre-revolutionary Tehran, yet the characters are not reduced to simple types: the novel’s tension grows from their conflicting impulses of empathy, desire, fear and helplessness.
In 1978, Hashemi directed and acted in a film based on the novel; it was not granted a public theatrical release. This link between fiction and cinema strengthens the work’s importance as a record of a rarely represented Tehran. The first edition ran to 405 pages; the store copy is listed as a Rowzan paperback. A later English-market edition uses the title Touti: The Parrot; its ISBN and pagination belong to that newer edition, not to this Rowzan copy.
