About The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany by William L. Shirer was first published in 1960. Shirer was an American journalist and historian who reported from Berlin during the Nazi rise, giving the book a combination of eyewitness experience and documentary history.
Beginning with the crisis of the Weimar Republic and Hitler’s ascent, the book follows the machinery of Nazi rule, foreign policy, the Second World War, the Holocaust and the collapse of the Third Reich. Shirer combines his reporting with captured Nazi records, secret conference transcripts, military orders, officials’ diaries and evidence from the Nuremberg trials.
The book won the US National Book Award and remains a detailed historical classic, although researchers should also account for later scholarship that has refined or challenged some interpretations. This Persian edition is translated by Abutaleb Saremi and published by Negah under ISBN 9789643512057.
