«مرگ یزدگرد» نمایشنامهای از بهرام بیضایی (Bahram Beyzaie) است که نخستین بار در سال ۱۹۷۹ روی صحنه رفت. نسخهٔ حاضر را انتشارات روشنگران و مطالعات زنان با شابک 9789645512182 منتشر کرده است. این اثر به فارسی نوشته شده و ترجمه نیست.
پس از پیدا شدن پیکر یزدگرد سوم، آخرین شاه ساسانی، در آسیاب، موبد و سردار برای محاکمهٔ آسیابان و خانوادهاش وارد میشوند. آسیابان، زن و دختر او هر بار ماجرایی متفاوت از ورود شاه و مرگش میگویند؛ با هر روایت، جای متهم و داور و حتی معنای حقیقت تغییر میکند.
بیضایی یک واقعهٔ تاریخی را به دادگاهی دربارهٔ قدرت، فقر و فروپاشی حکومت تبدیل میکند. زبان آهنگین و ساختار چندروایتی نمایشنامه، پاسخ قطعی را عقب میاندازد و نشان میدهد تاریخ چگونه با صدای صاحبان قدرت و بیقدرتان دوباره ساخته میشود. اثر مبنای فیلمی به همین نام نیز قرار گرفت، اما این محصول متن نمایشنامه است.

About Death of Yazdgerd
Death of Yazdgerd is a play by Bahram Beyzaie, first staged in 1979. This Persian-language edition is published by Roshangaran and Women’s Studies Publishing under ISBN 9789645512182. It is an original Persian work, not a translation.
After Yazdgerd III, the last Sasanian king, is found dead in a mill, a priest and an army commander arrive to try the miller and his family. The miller, his wife and their daughter each offer a different account of the king’s arrival and death; with every version, the positions of accused and judge—and the meaning of truth—shift.
Beyzaie turns a historical incident into a trial of power, poverty and a collapsing state. The play’s rhythmic language and conflicting testimonies withhold a final answer and show how history is remade through the voices of rulers and the ruled. It later became the basis of Beyzaie’s film of the same name, but this product is the play text.
