Anna Karenina: love, family and social judgement

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy follows private lives within nineteenth-century Russian society. This two-volume Niloofar edition contains the Persian translation by Soroush Habibi. Anna, a married aristocratic woman, becomes involved with the young officer Vronsky. Their relationship places her desires in conflict with family ties and the expectations of her social circle.

Anna, Levin and the search for a meaningful life

Alongside Anna’s story, the novel follows Levin and Kitty. Levin’s concerns with work, faith and marriage provide another way of thinking about intimacy and responsibility. Together, these strands ask how personal choices affect the people who share a life. The changing points of view also reveal differences between what the characters show others and what they experience inwardly.

The movement between city society and the countryside gives the story a broad setting, while its attention stays close to individual relationships. Readers interested in Russian classics, family conflict and character-driven fiction can consider how these contrasting lives shape the novel’s questions about happiness. It is a sustained reading experience built around intersecting stories and inner reflection.
