Esmaeiliyeh va Iran (descriptive English title: Ismailis and Iran: A Collection of Essays) is written by Farhad Daftary, translated into Persian by Fereydun Badrei and edited by Shokouh Zakeri. Published by Farzan Rooz, the volume uses original Ismaili sources to reassess traditions long shaped largely by hostile or polemical accounts.
The essays examine medieval Ismaili history and thought, Ismaili communities within the wider Muslim world, Hasan-i Sabbah, encounters with the Crusaders, and the legends surrounding the so-called Assassins. Together they show how the discovery and publication of Ismaili texts from the mid-twentieth century transformed modern scholarship in the field.
