About Twilight of the Idols
Twilight of the Idols by Friedrich Nietzsche, originally titled Götzen-Dämmerung oder Wie man mit dem Hammer philosophiert, is one of the most concentrated introductions to his late thought. In short chapters and sharply phrased observations, Nietzsche tests values and beliefs that society has treated as too self-evident to question.
The “hammer” in the subtitle is not only a tool of destruction. The philosopher taps the idols diagnostically, listening for the hollowness beneath their authority. The book challenges metaphysics, ascetic morality, the idea of reason wholly detached from the body and the cultural complacency of nineteenth-century Europe, while asking what it means to affirm life and create new values.
Written in 1888 and published in 1889, this work appears here in the Persian translation by Daryush Ashouri. Ageh published the 181-page edition under ISBN 9789643290399.
