فال حافظ یکی از رسم‌های محبوب در فرهنگ ایرانی است؛ رسمی که در آن با خواندن یک غزل از دیوان حافظ، نسبت به نیتی که در دل داریم یا پرسشی که ذهنمان را مشغول کرده، پاسخی نمادین و الهام‌بخش گرفته می‌شود.

شاخه‌نبات یعنی چه؟

در فارسی، «نبات» همان قندِ نبات / rock candy است؛

«شاخه‌نبات» یعنی تکهٔ بلند و شاخه‌مانندِ قند نبات که نماد شیرینی، برکت و نذر است.

در مورد حافظ، دو برداشت اصلی بین پژوهشگرها و روایت‌های عامیانه وجود دارد:

1.شاخه‌نبات = معشوق حافظ

در داستان‌های عامیانه گفته می‌شود حافظ در جوانی عاشق دختری بسیار زیبا به نام «شاخِ نبات» شد و بعضی غزل‌ها را خطاب به او گفته است.

2.شاخه‌نبات = استعاره از شیرینیِ شعر و قلم حافظ

در بعضی شرح‌ها و مقالات ادبی، «شاخه‌نبات» را تمثیل شیرینی سخن حافظ و قلم او می‌دانند؛ یعنی شاخه‌ای که از آن «شهد و شکر» می‌ریزد.

در فرهنگ عامه، هر دو معنی پذیرفته شده است: هم اشاره به معشوق حافظ دارد، و هم به شیرینی و قندِ کلام او.

let whatever is truly good for me flow through your verses.”)

What is

“Shakhe-ye Nabat”?

In Persian, “nabat” is rock candy, and “shakhe-ye nabat” is a stick of rock candy, symbolising sweetness, blessing, and votive offerings.

Regarding Hafez, there are two main interpretations in popular stories and literary commentary:

Shakhe-ye Nabat as Hafez’s beloved
According to popular folk tales, Hafez fell in love with a very beautiful girl called Shakhe-ye Nabat, and some of his ghazals are said to be addressed to her.

Shakhe-ye Nabat as a metaphor for the sweetness of his poetry
In some literary interpretations, shakhe-ye nabat is taken as a metaphor for the sweetness of Hafez’s words and pen – like a branch from which honey and sugar flow.

In everyday Iranian culture, both meanings coexist:

it refers both to his beloved and to the sweet, sugar-like quality of his poetry.

For many people, Fal-e Hafez is a poetic and cultural ritual, a way to engage with poetry, seek hope and inner peace – not a strict or literal prediction of the future.
