کتاب «تاریخ بیهقی» اثر ابوالفضل محمد بن حسین بیهقی، یکی از شاهکارهای نثر کلاسیک فارسی و از مهم‌ترین منابع تاریخی دربارهٔ دوره غزنویان است. بیهقی که خود دبیر دیوان رسائل در دربار سلطان مسعود غزنوی بود، با دقت، انصاف و نثری فاخر، به روایت حوادث، شخصیت‌ها و فضای سیاسی-اجتماعی آن دوران می‌پردازد.
