«وانیل و شکلات» ترجمهٔ فارسی رمان Vaniglia e cioccolato نوشتهٔ ازووا کاساتی مودینیانی (Sveva Casati Modignani) با ترجمهٔ لیلا صدری (Leila Sadri) است. داستان با نامه‌ای آغاز می‌شود که پنلوپه، یا «پپه»، پس از هجده سال زندگی مشترک برای همسرش آندرئا می‌گذارد. او که از بی‌وفایی‌های پی‌درپی آندرئا و سنگینی مسئولیت‌های روزمرهٔ خانواده خسته شده، خانه و سه فرزندشان را ترک می‌کند تا گذشته، خواسته‌های خودش و زندگی مشترکشان را دوباره ببیند.

غیبت پنلوپه، آندرئا را وادار می‌کند با کارهایی روبه‌رو شود که همیشه بر دوش همسرش بوده و پیامد رفتار خودش را ببیند. روایت میان اکنون و خاطره حرکت می‌کند و عشق، خیانت، کار نامرئی خانه، هویت فردی و امکان بازسازی یک رابطهٔ آسیب‌دیده را می‌کاود. تصویر وانیل و شکلات—دو طعم متفاوت که می‌توانند کنار هم هماهنگ شوند—تمثیلی از رابطهٔ پپه و آندرئا است؛ تفاوت‌هایی که هم پیوند می‌سازند و هم تنش.

عنوان دقیق بازار فارسی «وانیل و شکلات» و عنوان اصلی ایتالیایی Vaniglia e cioccolato است. اثر نخستین‌بار در سال ۲۰۰۰ توسط Sperling & Kupfer منتشر شد. در منابع بررسی‌شده، عبارت Vanilla and Chocolate به‌عنوان عنوان یک ویرایش انگلیسی مستند نشده است؛ این عبارت ترجمهٔ تحت‌اللفظی عنوان است و برای فیلم اقتباسی سال ۲۰۰۴ نیز به‌کار رفته است. نخستین چاپ فارسی نشر البرز در سال ۱۳۸۳ منتشر شد و شابک معتبر این ترجمه ۹۷۸۹۶۴۴۴۲۳۹۴۹ است.

جلد موجود در الفبا عبارت «چاپ هجدهم» را نشان می‌دهد و رکورد فروشگاهی منطبق با همین جلد، ۵۶۸ صفحه، قطع رقعی و جلد شومیز را ثبت می‌کند. رکورد چاپ‌های دیگر همین شابک بین ۵۵۸ تا ۵۶۲ صفحه تفاوت دارند؛ بنابراین ۵۶۸ صفحه در جدول به رکورد منطبق با جلد اشاره دارد و شناسنامهٔ فیزیکی نسخهٔ موجود مرجع نهایی است.

Vaniglia e cioccolato by Sveva Casati Modignani, translated into Persian by Leila Sadri, begins with a letter Penelope—known as Pepe—leaves for her husband Andrea after eighteen years of marriage. Worn down by Andrea’s repeated infidelity and the burden of everyday family responsibilities, she leaves their home and three children to reconsider her past, her own desires and their marriage.

Penelope’s absence forces Andrea to face work that had always rested on his wife and to confront the consequences of his behaviour. Moving between present events and memory, the novel explores love, betrayal, invisible domestic labour, individual identity and whether a damaged relationship can be rebuilt. The image of vanilla and chocolate—different flavours that can complement one another—becomes a metaphor for Pepe and Andrea, whose differences create both connection and tension.

The established Persian market title is وانیل و شکلات; the documented Italian title is Vaniglia e cioccolato. Sperling & Kupfer first published the novel in 2000. No English-language edition carrying the title “Vanilla and Chocolate” was found in the sources reviewed; the phrase is a literal English gloss and is also used as the international title of the 2004 film adaptation. Alborz published the first Persian edition in 1383 SH (2004–2005), and the valid ISBN for this translation is 9789644423949.

AlefBa’s cover image explicitly says eighteenth printing. A retailer record matching that cover identifies 568 pages, Roqei trim and paperback binding. Other printings under the same ISBN are catalogued at between 558 and 562 pages, so the table’s 568-page count is tied to the matching-cover record; the colophon of AlefBa’s physical copy remains the final authority.
