«شاه کشتار نکرد» نوشتهٔ صادق زیباکلام (Sadegh Zibakalam) تحلیلی از رفتار حکومت محمدرضا پهلوی (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) در ماههای پایانی انقلاب ۱۳۵۷ است. نویسنده میپرسد چرا حکومت، با وجود ارتش و ابزارهای امنیتی گسترده و با وجود برخوردها و تلفات، برای حفظ قدرت به سرکوبی باز هم وسیعتر متوسل نشد.

The Shah Did Not Massacre
The Shah Did Not Massacre by Sadegh Zibakalam examines the conduct of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s government during the final months of the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The author asks why a state with a large military and security apparatus did not resort to still broader repression to preserve power, despite the confrontations and deaths that did occur.
Zibakalam considers competing explanations involving the Shah’s decisions, political liberalisation, the military, foreign governments, and the collapse of the monarchy. The title states the author’s thesis within a disputed historical debate; it does not erase every act of violence or every victim of the period. The book is therefore most useful when read alongside documentary evidence and other historical studies.
