«برگزیده نقاشی‌های آیدین آغداشلو: ۱۹۵۹–۲۰۱۲» تک‌نگاری دوزبانه و مصوری از آثار آیدین آغداشلو (Aydin Aghdashloo) است که نشر نگار در سال ۱۳۹۱ منتشر کرد و متن همراه آن را داریوش شایگان (Dariush Shayegan) نوشته است. بنابراین شایگان نقاش یا گردآورندهٔ اصلی آثار نیست؛ نقش دقیق او نویسندهٔ متن تفسیری کتاب است و نقاشی‌ها به آغداشلو تعلق دارند. گزیده، بیش از پنج دهه از کار هنرمند را کنار هم می‌گذارد و امکان می‌دهد پیوند میان مهارت او در بازسازی تصویر کلاسیک و دغدغهٔ مداوم زوال را دنبال کنیم. چهره‌ها و پیکره‌هایی با یادآوری نقاشی رنسانس یا نگارگری ایرانی در آثار او سالم و دست‌نخورده باقی نمی‌مانند: گاه بخشی از تصویر پاک، مچاله، سوخته یا شکسته می‌شود و زیبایی در همان لحظه‌ای دیده می‌شود که نابودی تهدیدش می‌کند. نمونه‌هایی از مجموعه‌های «خاطرات انهدام»، «سال‌های آتش و برف» و «معما» در کنار تک‌چهره‌ها و ترکیب‌های دیگر، واژگان تصویری آغداشلو را روشن می‌کنند؛ از جمله «سال آخرالزمان»، «عشاق»، «تک‌چهرهٔ مادر نقاش» و آثاری از مجموعهٔ «معما». متن شایگان این تصویرها را در زمینهٔ حافظهٔ تاریخی، میراث هنری و زیبایی تراژیک می‌خواند، و ارائهٔ فارسی و انگلیسی کتاب آن را برای مجموعه‌داران و پژوهشگران هنر معاصر ایران قابل استفاده می‌کند. نسخهٔ حاضر کتابی رحلی، گالینگور و قاب‌دار است؛ یک آلبوم تصویری بزرگ‌قطع، نه زندگی‌نامه یا مجموعه مقالهٔ عمومی دربارهٔ آغداشلو.

Aydin Aghdashloo: Selected Paintings, 1959–2012 is a large-format bilingual monograph devoted to the work of Aydin Aghdashloo, published by Negar in 2012 with an accompanying text by Dariush Shayegan. Shayegan is therefore not the painter or principal compiler of the images; his precise contribution is the interpretive text, while the paintings are Aghdashloo’s. Spanning more than five decades, the selection lets readers trace the tension between the artist’s command of classical representation and his persistent concern with loss. Figures recalling Renaissance portraiture or Persian miniature painting rarely remain intact: an image may be erased, crumpled, scorched or fractured, so that beauty becomes most visible at the instant it is threatened with disappearance. Works from Memories of Destruction, Years of Fire and Snow and Enigma appear alongside portraits and other compositions, including works known in Persian as “Sal-e Akhar al-Zaman,” “Oshaq” and “Tak-chehreh-ye Madar-e Naqash.” Shayegan’s essay frames these images through historical memory, artistic inheritance and tragic beauty. Persian and English presentation makes the volume useful to collectors and researchers of Iranian modern and contemporary art. This slipcased hardcover is an illustrated art monograph, not a general biography or an unrelated collection of essays about Aghdashloo.
