داستان با فروپاشی ناگهانی زندگی کلوئه آغاز می‌شود: آدرین، همسرش، او و دو دخترشان را ترک کرده است. پیر، پدر آدرین، کلوئه و بچه‌ها را به خانهٔ روستایی خانواده می‌برد. سکوت نخستین روزها کم‌کم جای خود را به گفت‌وگویی طولانی می‌دهد و پیر از ماتیلد می‌گوید؛ زنی که سال‌ها پیش دوستش داشت، اما جرئت نکرد زندگی تثبیت‌شده‌اش را برای او ترک کند.
اعتراف پیر پاسخ ساده‌ای دربارهٔ وفاداری یا خیانت نمی‌دهد. رمان از خلال گفت‌وگوی دو نسل می‌پرسد آیا ماندن همیشه شجاعت است و رفتن همیشه خودخواهی؛ ترس چگونه می‌تواند به شکل وظیفه ظاهر شود؛ و تصمیم‌هایی که گرفته نمی‌شوند چه اثری بر زندگی چند نفر می‌گذارند. نثر گفت‌وگومحور و فشردهٔ گاوالدا، اندوه جدایی را با لحظه‌های صمیمیت، طنز و همدلی همراه می‌کند.
اثر اصلی نخستین بار در سال ۲۰۰۲ از سوی نشر فرانسوی لو دیلتانت منتشر شد و در سال ۲۰۰۹ نیز اقتباسی سینمایی از آن ساخته شد. نسخهٔ عرضه‌شده در این صفحه چاپ بیست‌وسوم ترجمهٔ الهام دارچینیان از نشر قطره است؛ ۱۶۸ صفحه، قطع رقعی، جلد شومیز و شابک 9789643418427. سال چاپ هر نسخهٔ فیزیکی باید از شناسنامهٔ همان نسخه خوانده شود.

About Someone I Loved
Someone I Loved, originally published in French as Je l’aimais, is a novel by Anna Gavalda. This Persian edition is translated from French by Elham Darchinian and published by Qatreh Publishing.
The story opens after Chloé’s husband, Adrien, abruptly leaves her and their two daughters. Adrien’s father, Pierre, takes Chloé and the children to the family’s country house. Their initially awkward silence develops into a long conversation in which Pierre reveals his own lost relationship with Mathilde, a woman he loved but did not have the courage to choose over his established family life.
Pierre’s confession offers no easy verdict on fidelity or betrayal. Through the exchange between two generations, the novel asks whether staying is always courageous and leaving always selfish, how fear can disguise itself as duty, and how choices left unmade reshape several lives. Gavalda’s compressed, dialogue-led style combines the pain of separation with intimacy, humour and compassion.
The French original was first published by Le Dilettante in 2002 and was adapted for film in 2009. The Persian copy described here is the twenty-third printing of Elham Darchinian’s Qatreh edition: 168 pages, Iranian octavo paperback, ISBN 9789643418427. The publication year of an individual physical copy should be checked in that copy’s colophon.
