The Kingdom of Media
The Kingdom of Media by Igrar Aliyev, translated into Persian by Kambiz Mirbaha, is an extensive study of the history, geography, society, and culture of the Medes and the formation of early Iranian states in the western Iranian plateau. Across eleven chapters, it combines written sources and archaeological evidence to reconstruct a period with limited and scattered direct documentation.
The book opens by assessing Assyrian, Babylonian, Greek, and Latin sources, then examines the natural geography of ancient Media, prehistoric periods, language and origins, the Copper and Bronze Ages, and the earliest written references to the Medes.
