Zand-i Wahman Yasn and The Book of the Deeds of Ardashir brings together two important Middle Persian texts translated and annotated by Sadegh Hedayat. Zand-i Wahman Yasn, a source in Zoroastrian apocalyptic literature, uses Zoroaster’s vision of a tree with metal branches to describe historical ages, future disorder and the hope of world renovation. The Book of the Deeds of Ardashir recounts the legendary life of Ardashir Babakan, founder of the Sasanian Empire. Hedayat’s work makes these difficult Middle Persian texts accessible to modern Persian readers.
