Arsalan Fasihi is an Iranian literary translator, editor and essayist, born in 1961. He began translating in the early 1980s; although his earliest book-length translations could not be published, he later translated about fifteen Persian titles into Turkish and taught Turkish language and literature at Ege University in Izmir. His Persian translations have introduced work by Yaşar Kemal, Orhan Pamuk, Orhan Kemal, Elif Shafak, Ahmet Ümit, Aziz Nesin, Nâzım Hikmet and other Turkish-language writers.
For this AlefBa edition, Fasihi is the translator—not the author—of Elif Shafak’s novel. He worked from the Turkish «Aşk», spent about a year on the translation, reconstructed original Persian Rumi verses by searching the «Divan-e Shams» and «Masnavi», and differentiated a large cast of narrators across two historical periods. «ملت عشق» is his deliberate Persian market title. Reliable public sources do not disclose a precise birthday, verified birthplace or family biography, and the latest direct dated text found is his January 2024 essay; no unsupported private details or 2026 activity claim is added.
