بهروز بوچانی (Behrouz Boochani؛ زادهٔ ۲۳ ژوئیهٔ ۱۹۸۳ / ۱ مرداد ۱۳۶۲) نویسنده، روزنامهنگار، پژوهشگر، فعال فرهنگی و فیلمساز کرد ایرانی است. صورت فارسی «بهروز بوچانی» و املای لاتین رسمیِ مورد استفاده در وبسایت شخصی او Behrouz Boochani است؛ Behrooz Boochani فقط بهعنوان املای جستوجوییِ دیدهشده در بعضی رکوردهای بازار نگه داشته میشود. فهرست پروندههای PEN International تاریخ دقیق تولد را ۲۳ ژوئیهٔ ۱۹۸۳ ثبت میکند و منابع دانشگاهی و کاتالوگی ایلام را زادگاه میدانند، در حالی که معرفی رسمی خود او و National Portrait Gallery فقط سال ۱۹۸۳ و ایران را ذکر میکنند؛ این تفاوت منبع در صفحه پنهان نمیشود. گزارش مستند ABC میگوید او در کردستان ایران زیر سایهٔ جنگ ایران و عراق بزرگ شد و والدینش کشاورزانی بیسواد در نزدیکی ایلام بودند؛ نام والدین، خواهر یا برادر، همسر و فرزند او در منابع بررسیشده تأیید نشده و حدس زده نمیشود. بوچانی در دانشگاههای خوارزمی، که پیشتر تربیت معلم نام داشت، و تربیت مدرس در تهران تحصیل کرد و مدرک کارشناسی ارشد در حوزهٔ علوم سیاسی، جغرافیای سیاسی و ژئوپلیتیک گرفت. او نویسنده و ویراستار مجلهٔ کردیزبان Werya بود. در ۲۰۱۳ پس از خروج از ایران، در راه دریاییِ اندونزی به استرالیا رهگیری و ابتدا به Christmas Island و سپس به بازداشتگاه برونمرزی مانوس در پاپوآ گینهٔ نو منتقل شد. از درون این نظام بازداشت، با تلفن همراه برای رسانهها گزارش فرستاد، شعر و مقاله نوشت و متن فارسی کتاب «هیچ دوستی به جز کوهستان» را عمدتاً در پیامهای واتساپ به بیرون رساند. Omid Tofighian این متن را با همکاری فکری و ادبی نویسنده به انگلیسی ترجمه کرد و Picador Australia آن را ۳۱ ژوئیهٔ ۲۰۱۸ با عنوان No Friend But the Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison منتشر کرد. بنابراین کتاب نخست به انگلیسی انتشار یافت، اما از متن فارسی نوشته شده بود؛ نسخهٔ فارسی نشر چشمه ترجمه از انگلیسی نیست و در این نسخهٔ الفبافقط بهروز بوچانی نقش author دارد. رکورد آلفبا و طاقچه برای این نسخه عنوان دقیق «هیچ دوستی به جز کوهستان»، نشر چشمه، شابک 9786220101390 و ۲۴۸ صفحه را ثبت میکنند. کتاب در ۲۰۱۹ هم جایزهٔ کلی ادبیات و هم شاخهٔ غیرداستانی Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards، جایزهٔ National Biography Award، جایزهٔ General Non-Fiction در ABIA و Special Award نیوساوتولز را گرفت. بوچانی در ۲۰۱۷ فیلم مستند Chauka, Please Tell Us the Time را با Arash Kamali Sarvestani ساخت و در ۲۰۲۲ مجموعهٔ Freedom, Only Freedom با ترجمه و ویرایش Moones Mansoubi و Omid Tofighian منتشر شد. او نوامبر ۲۰۱۹ وارد نیوزیلند شد و ۲۴ ژوئیهٔ ۲۰۲۰ وضعیت پناهندگی آن کشور را دریافت کرد. منابع بررسیشده تابعیت نیوزیلند را تأیید نمیکنند. منابع رسمی دانشگاهی انتصاب او را در UNSW و Visiting Professorship در Birkbeck ثبت کردهاند. هیچ تاریخ مرگ وجود ندارد؛ او نویسندهای زنده است.
Behrouz Boochani (born 23 July 1983) is a Kurdish-Iranian author, journalist, scholar, cultural advocate and filmmaker. His own website consistently uses “Behrouz Boochani”; “Behrooz Boochani”, found in some market and awards records, is retained only as a search alias. The PEN International case list records the exact date 23 July 1983 and university and catalogue sources identify Ilam as his birthplace, while Boochani’s official biography and Australia’s National Portrait Gallery state only 1983 and Iran; that source difference remains visible. An ABC documentary profile reports that he grew up in Kurdish Iran under the shadow of the Iran–Iraq war and that his parents were non-literate farmers near Ilam. The reviewed sources do not verify the parents’ names, siblings, spouse or children, so those details are not guessed. Boochani studied at Kharazmi University, formerly Tarbiat Moallem University, and Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran, earning a master’s degree spanning political science, political geography and geopolitics. He wrote and edited for the Kurdish-language magazine Werya. After leaving Iran in 2013, he was intercepted while travelling by sea from Indonesia toward Australia, taken first to Christmas Island and then transferred into Australia’s offshore detention system on Manus Island, Papua New Guinea. From detention he reported for news organisations, published poetry and essays, and composed the Persian text that became «هیچ دوستی به جز کوهستان», sending much of it out in WhatsApp messages. Omid Tofighian translated the work into English through an extensive intellectual and literary collaboration with Boochani. Picador Australia first published it on 31 July 2018 as No Friend But the Mountains: Writing from Manus Prison. The publication history matters: although the first published edition was English, the source text was written in Persian. Cheshmeh’s Persian edition is therefore not a translation from English, and AlefBa edition assigns only the author role to Boochani; Tofighian is the translator of the English edition, not this Persian product. AlefBa and Taaghche record the exact Persian market title «هیچ دوستی به جز کوهستان», Cheshmeh Publishing, ISBN 9786220101390 and 248 pages. In 2019 the book won both the overall Victorian Prize for Literature and the Victorian Premier’s Prize for Non-Fiction, the National Biography Award, ABIA General Non-Fiction Book of the Year and the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards Special Award. Boochani co-directed the 2017 documentary Chauka, Please Tell Us the Time with Arash Kamali Sarvestani. Freedom, Only Freedom, translated and edited by Moones Mansoubi and Omid Tofighian, followed in 2022. Boochani arrived in New Zealand in November 2019 and received refugee status there on 24 July 2020. The reviewed sources do not verify New Zealand citizenship. Official university sources document his UNSW appointment and his visiting professorship at Birkbeck. He is living; no death field belongs in this profile.
