روانشناسی شفا | ابوعلی سینا، ترجمه اکبر داناسرشت

روانشناسی شفا گزیده‌ای فارسی از مباحث نفس در دانشنامهٔ «شفا»ی ابوعلی سینا (Avicenna (Ibn Sina)) است که با ترجمهٔ اکبر داناسرشت (Akbar Danaseresht) و مقدمهٔ فرید قاسملو (Farid Ghasemlou) منتشر شده است. در اینجا «روانشناسی» به معنای پژوهش فلسفی دربارهٔ نفس و قوای آن است، نه روان‌شناسی بالینی یا روان‌درمانی امروز.

ابن‌سینا شناخت انسان را از بررسی حواس بیرونی و نیروهای درونی آغاز می‌کند: حس مشترک، خیال، وهم، حافظه و عقل. کتاب به ادراک حسی، تصویر ذهنی، خودآگاهی و رابطهٔ نفس و بدن می‌پردازد و زمینهٔ فهم آزمایش ذهنی مشهور «انسان معلّق» را فراهم می‌کند؛ انسانی که بدون دریافت حسی نیز از وجود خویش آگاه است.

با وجود واژهٔ «شفا» در عنوان، «کتاب الشفا» کتاب پزشکی نیست؛ دانشنامه‌ای فلسفی و علمی در منطق، طبیعیات، ریاضیات و مابعدالطبیعه است. اثر پزشکی بزرگ ابن‌سینا «القانون فی الطب» نام دارد. این تمایز برای فهم دقیق موضوع کتاب ضروری است.

Psychology in The Book of Healing is a Persian selection from Avicenna’s account of the soul in his philosophical encyclopaedia, translated by Akbar Danaseresht and introduced by Farid Ghasemlou. Here “psychology” means the philosophical study of the soul and its faculties, not modern clinical psychology or psychotherapy.

Avicenna begins with the external senses and the internal faculties: common sense, imagination, estimation, memory and intellect. The text examines perception, mental images, self-awareness and the relationship between soul and body, providing the setting for his celebrated “Floating Man” thought experiment, in which a person deprived of sensory input is nevertheless aware of existing.

Despite the word “Healing” in its title, al-Shifa is not a medical book. It is a philosophical and scientific encyclopaedia covering logic, natural philosophy, mathematics and metaphysics. Avicenna’s major medical work is The Canon of Medicine; the distinction is essential to understanding this volume.
