This Persian volume brings together two English works by Kahlil Gibran, translated by Mousa Asvar. Sand and Foam is a sequence of brief reflections and aphorisms on self-knowledge, love, friendship, freedom, beauty, art, solitude and the individual’s relationship with society.
The Earth Gods is a dramatic poem structured as a dialogue among three unnamed earth gods. Each voice approaches humanity, desire, creation, weariness, love and death from a different angle. Placing the aphoristic Sand and Foam beside the mythic dialogue of The Earth Gods reveals how Gibran revisits related concerns through two distinct literary forms.
