«ملکان عذاب» سرگذشت سه نسل از یک خاندان، شیخ احمد سفلی، زکریا شرف و شمس شرف، را از دل دستنوشتههایی تودرتو روایت میکند. پس از مرگ زکریا، شمس با وصیت و امانتی روبهرو میشود که باید آن را به حوریه برساند؛ همین مأموریت، زمان حال را به خاطرات زکریا، گذشتهٔ خانهای بالاگداری و خانقاه پدر او پیوند میزند.
ابوتراب خسروی (Aboutorab Khosravi) با جابهجایی غیرخطی میان سه روایت مکتوب، مرز نویسنده، راوی، شخصیت و متن را ناپایدار میکند. مناسبات اربابورعیتی، تصوف، فرقهگرایی، قدرت و حافظهٔ تاریخی در رمان به یکدیگر گره میخورند و نشان میدهند نوشته چگونه میتواند گذشته را بازسازی کند، هویت بسازد و خشونت را از نسلی به نسل دیگر منتقل کند.
این رمان پس از «اسفار کاتبان» و «رود راوی»، جلد پایانی سهگانهٔ خسروی است و در سال ۱۳۹۳ برندهٔ مشترک بخش رمان و داستان بلند هفتمین دورهٔ جایزهٔ ادبی جلال آلاحمد شد. نام لاتین اثر در فهرستهای بینالمللی بهصورت Malekan-e Azab و صورتهای نزدیک ثبت شده است؛ عنوان انگلیسی منتشرشده و قابلتأییدی برای آن پیدا نشده، بنابراین ترجمهٔ لفظی یا عنوان بازاری ساختگی به کتاب نسبت داده نمیشود.
روی جلد نسخهٔ موجود در الفبا «چاپ دوم» و نام نشر گمان دیده میشود. اعلام ناشر این نسخه را چاپ دوم گمان و چاپ چهارم کتاب در مجموع معرفی میکند. شابک 9786007289136 تأیید شده است؛ اما تعداد صفحات چاپ دومِ تصویرشده بدون بررسی شناسنامهٔ نسخهٔ فیزیکی قطعی نیست. عدد ۳۹۶ صفحه فقط برای چاپ اول گمان ثبت شده و به نسخهٔ موجود تعمیم داده نمیشود.

About Malekan-e Azab
Malekan-e Azab follows three generations of one family—Sheikh Ahmad Sofli, Zakaria Sharaf and Shams Sharaf—through a set of nested manuscripts. After Zakaria’s death, Shams encounters a will and an entrusted item that he must deliver to Hourieh. That task connects the present-day narrative to Zakaria’s memories, the history of the Balagadari khans and the Sufi lodge led by Zakaria’s father.
Aboutorab Khosravi moves nonlinearly among the three written accounts, unsettling the boundaries between author, narrator, character and text. Landlord–peasant relations, mysticism, sectarianism, power and historical memory converge as the novel examines how writing can reconstruct the past, shape identity and transmit violence across generations.
The novel concludes Khosravi’s trilogy after Asfar-e Kateban and Rud-e Ravi. In 2014, it was a joint winner in the novel and long-fiction category of the seventh Jalal Al-e Ahmad Literary Award. International catalogues use Malekan-e Azab and closely related romanisations. No verified title of a published English translation was found, so this page does not invent a literal or commercial English title.
The cover of AlefBa’s copy identifies the second Goman printing. The publisher describes it as Goman’s second printing and the book’s fourth printing overall. ISBN 9786007289136 is verified, but the pagination of the pictured second printing cannot be confirmed without checking its physical colophon. The 396-page record belongs to Goman’s first printing and is not assigned to the stocked copy.
