خواب مندل، بهمن و بیدارشدن او در زمانی دیگر، روایت را از خط زمانی ساده بیرون میبرند و مرز واقعیت، اسطوره و رؤیا را لغزان میکنند. شخصیتها و فضای سنگسر با جهان «سال بلوا» گفتوگو دارند، اما این کتاب داستانی مستقل دربارهٔ فقدان، تکرار نامها، دوام عشق و کشاکش انسان با تقدیر است.
نثر معروفی آهنگین و تصویری است. جابهجایی زاویهٔ دید، تداعی و بازگشت تصویرها باعث میشوند سوگ فقط موضوع رمان نباشد، بلکه در ساختار روایت نیز احساس شود. معرفی ناشر میگوید معروفی در فراز و نشیبهای طولانی حدود سی سال روی این اثر کار کرده است.

About All the Dead Are Called Yahya
Nam-e Tamam-e Mordegan Yahyast, catalogued in English as All the Dead Are Called Yahya, is a lyrical, myth-inflected novel by Abbas Maroufi. The established printed Persian title joins its final words as “Yahyast.” Gardoon first published the novel in Berlin in 2018.
Set in Sangsar, the story follows Davar, a woodcutter who lives with Dolili and has six children named Yahya, Masiha, Esmaeil, Ebrahim, Mikail and Noursa. Their successive deaths draw the family into prolonged mourning. Seven years after the last loss, the sixty-six-year-old Davar fathers another son, Mandel. The birth recalls the story of Zechariah, but the miraculous is intertwined with poverty, snow, death and memory.
Mandel’s dream, an avalanche and his awakening in another time pull the narrative away from straightforward chronology and unsettle the boundary between reality, myth and dream. The characters and Sangsar setting converse with the fictional world of The Year of Turmoil, yet this remains an independent novel about bereavement, repeated names, enduring love and the human struggle with fate.
Maroufi’s prose is rhythmic and image-rich. Shifts in viewpoint, associative movement and returning images make grief part of the novel’s form rather than merely its subject. Gardoon’s introduction states that Maroufi worked on the book through a long and difficult history spanning roughly thirty years.
