«نه تر و نه خشک» داستانی بلند و افسانهوار از هوشنگ مرادی کرمانی (Houshang Moradi Kermani) است. هستهٔ روایت از قصهای میآید که نویسنده در کودکی از پدربزرگش شنیده بود: پرندهای کوچک و بینام دل به گلپر، دختر سلطان، میبازد و برای رسیدن به او باید خواستهای ظاهراً ناممکن را برآورده کند.
سلطان از پرنده چوبی میخواهد که نه تر باشد و نه خشک، نه راست باشد و نه کج. جستوجوی این چوب، خواستگاری خیالانگیز را به سفری طولانی میان آدمها، طبیعت، حکایتهای فرعی و آزمونهای پیدرپی تبدیل میکند. هر دیدار چیزی دربارهٔ امید، پافشاری و بهایی که آرزو از جوینده میگیرد آشکار میسازد.
زمان در این قصه فقط پسزمینه نیست. وقتی رسیدن به آرزو طول میکشد، خودِ آرزو، صاحب قدرت و رابطهٔ عاشقانه نیز تغییر میکنند. مرادی کرمانی با گفتوگو، طنز و آهنگ قصهگویی شفاهی، فاصلهٔ میان رؤیا و واقعیت را نشان میدهد؛ بیآنکه سادگی زبان، تلخی قدرت یا فرسودگی راه را پنهان کند.
کتاب برای نوجوانان نوشته شده، اما پرسشهای آن دربارهٔ انتظار، اختیار، دگرگونی و معنای رسیدن، خوانندهٔ بزرگسال را هم درگیر میکند. نام کتاب در پروندهٔ کتابشناختی شورای بینالمللی کتاب برای نسل جوان به صورت Na Tar va na Khoshk و با برگردان Neither Dry nor Wet ثبت شده است؛ این برگردان برای شناسایی اثر است و نام فارسی چاپ حاضر همچنان «نه تر و نه خشک» است.

Na Tar va na Khoshk (Neither Dry nor Wet) is a long, fable-like story by Houshang Moradi Kermani. The story grows from a tale the author heard from his grandfather as a child: a tiny unnamed bird falls in love with Golpar, the Sultan’s daughter, and must satisfy a seemingly impossible demand before it can reach her.
The Sultan asks for a piece of wood that is neither wet nor dry, neither straight nor crooked. The search turns a whimsical proposal into a long journey through encounters with people and nature, embedded tales and repeated trials. Each meeting reveals something about hope, persistence and the price an ambition can exact from the person pursuing it.
Time is not merely a backdrop. As fulfilment is delayed, the desired object, the person who holds power and the relationship itself can all change. Through dialogue, humour and the cadence of oral storytelling, Moradi Kermani explores the distance between dream and reality without allowing the accessible language to conceal the harshness of authority or the exhaustion of the road.
Written for younger readers, the book also speaks to adults through its questions about waiting, agency, change and what it means to arrive. The International Board on Books for Young People records the work bibliographically as Na Tar va na Khoshk, with the English rendering Neither Dry nor Wet. That rendering identifies the work; the established title of this Persian edition remains «نه تر و نه خشک».
